Etsy Grab-Bag: Modern Takes

Today I'm feeling like reworking some familiar icons. Oh, good, the Interwebs did it for me: sci-fi is my religion necklace...

...and keep calm and exterminate.

Modcloth: Soft Firefly

I'm feeling some Whedon-love today. The cardigan up top has that brown, vaguely shapeless appeal.

This handkerchief-hem dress is ginghamlicious...

And this dress is just such a soft, lovely pink. It reminds me of Companions and Kaylee's dress and cotton candy, all at once.

Shoe Grab-Bag: MORE Silver Sandals

I will never get tired of silver shoes, guys. That is just a fact. Like these Charles David sandals, up top.

And these Miss Me sandals. Probably my favorite of this batch.

And these Nine West sandals. I am sensing a theme.

Sock Dreams: Nerdy Feet

Guys, whether you're a straight-up technogeek or a biology nerd, Sock Dreams has you covered. Check out these sweet Genius socks.  I want them pretty bad.

Octosocks! For both the biology enthusiast and the Cthulu enthusiast.

I like the robot socks. They need more robot, though. They are just not robot-y enough. (Now the soundtrack in my head is Zoidberg saying robot.)

And, for the anatomy freak, intestine socks! Not even kidding.

Edibly Etsy: nihanatakan

I kind of just straight-up love the jewelry from this seller. If I weren't hoarding every penny for the (now twice my original budget) wedding, I'd probably have to think seriously about getting one of these rings. Like the pearl ring, above.

And guys, THIS RING IS PHI. I'm kind of a nerd like that.

Plus a totally darling pyramid ring. These aren't cheap--the pyramid's about forty bucks--but they aren't budget-busters, either.

Karmaloop: RCVA in Gray

I'm liking the BSG feel of these pieces. Sweater-y dress.

This is actually a fairly see-through hoodie

And I loves me some Starbuck in racerback.

Modcloth: Crisp and Cold

And by that, of course, I mean that I would freeze my butt off if I tried to wear any of these in this weather. Gray satin

Stripey, but classy!

And this one has a see-through collar placket, which I really like.

Irregular Choice: Wookie Love

Guys, Irregular Choice would like to make sure you have multiple options for looking like Barbarella, post-crash. First.
 Second.
Third.

Modcloth: Future Gothic

Guys, today I am feeling my goth roots. (That's right. For many years I was the kind of teenager who wears all black and locks herself in her room and cries while listening to Placebo.) So, in honor of that: dress looks like a nebula!

Sssssneaky Satan.

And this little number is bizarre, yet awesome. It reminds me of the White Stripes song Little Ghost.

Karmaloop: Straight-Up Sci-Fi

From toe to head today: starting with some Naughty Monkey "I'm going to kick your alien ass" shoes. (Not, of course, shoes you would actually kick ass in.)

I just do not get tired of this jacket trend.

And these leggings are just too cute.

Modcloth: Geometry Again

Ok, I just straight-up love massive grommets. Probably my SCA, corset-makin' history.

This is kind of skeletal.

And this is... robot skeletal?

Link: Ladypower

Ladies! Ever considered a career as a carpenter? Maybe you should. It is the era of power tools, and power tools are good.

Modcloth: Star Maid

Hey, guys! I have exactly one free hour right now--I just baked macaroons for the hospital to apologize for how many shifts I've missed lately, I'm heading in for a haircut shortly, and then I volunteer at the hospital tonight--so. Boom! Lightning post!  I'm a little (read: a LOT) obsessed with wedding planning right now. The fact that we're engaged and have our eye on a venue is driving me insane, because I can't actually book the venue until this summer. (We're getting married summer 2012.) So, in honor of my crazies, enjoy these kind of Star Trek: TNG-y dresses that would make pretty awesome bridesmaids dresses.

Because my fiance won't let me go whole hog, that's why.

Up above, peach ruffles. TNG looooooved the one-shoulder thing. And neutrals.

I guess this is a little more TOS, but I like that it reminds me--nonsensically, of course, their women are naked--of the Ferengi.

And this is just fuckin' classy. You could wear this shit at just about any kind of wedding. And pretend you're Troi.
