Karmaloop: nOir Heroes

Okay, so this jewelry company is doing a collaboration with DC comics, and I have to say, I kind of love the results. I don't know that it's worth what they're charging, but how cute is this Wonder Woman ring?
 Or this Batman knuckle ring?
Or these adorable Superman earrings?

LuLu's: Sexy Robot Details

I don't much hold with this "New Year's party dresses" thing. Mostly because I've never been to a New Year's party that would have required a fancy dress, and even if I had, in this climate, I would be wearing it with so many layers of bundled-up-edness that it would defeat the point. However, I do love to play pretend with respect to pretty little dresses, so: black shiny!

I would wear these awesome shoes with it. I am so into sculpted heels. I hope the trend never dies, because shoes can be so much more creative than most designers ever make them.

And this a fabulous little necklace, yeah?

Karmaloop: nOir Potter

Today I'm thinking fondly back to my discovery of Harry Potter and the Pottermania that followed. I got into it around the fourth book, as many people did. I'm woefully behind on the movies, but here are some jewelry pieces to get things going: a lightning-bolt necklace.

This utterly nifty sword ring.

And some (basilisk?) claw/tooth earrings.

LuLu's: Firefly for Winter

I'm feeling some Firefly love today. My boyfriend got me Firefly for our first Christmas together, and I was hooked immediately; that's probably why I associate cold weather and winter holidays with Mal and the gang. First up, a velveteen jacket.

This coat... both puzzles and interests me. It's like one of these newfangled free-form cardigans, but... a coat? Really? You can't zip it up or button it. I don't understand.

And, because it's pretty and foofy, this dress.

Modcloth: Next Gen Geometry

I was watching an episode of Next Generation last night and it made me so nostalgic. Deep Space Nine! Julian Bashir! I had this one awful moment where I turned to my boyfriend and I said, "That isn't a young Gaius Baltar, is it?" and we had to look it up on the Internet to be sure it was not the case. It made me wistful for dresses like the one above, with bold geometric shapes.  Also mustard yellow, but I refuse to commit that fashion crime even for my love of Data.

And this sparkly top is, of course, in honor of Majel Barret.

Leggings! If only they were stirrup pants, my trip to the past would be complete.

LuLu's: One Shoulder

Today I'm intrigued by one-shouldered dresses. I've always avoided them on the grounds that they aren't flattering on me, but they can have a sleek, futuristic look. Like the dress at left with sleeve cut-outs.

And this one, with its sequin details, feels just a little bit Tron, doesn't it? Or maybe Matrix.

But the feathery shoulder detail on this dress steals the show for me. I think it has something to do with flashbacks to Barbarella. I need to watch that again--it's been too long.

Forever 21: Dress Up Your Shoulders

I'm glad that shoulder decorations are in. I like them; they have a faintly military flavor of which I approve, and the new styles are often a lot less godawful than the shoulderpads that infested my mother's clothing in the 80s and early 90s. First up, tunic top.

And a freaking TINY FURRY CAPE. That's pretty cool. Kind of Lyra's-mom-in-Golden-Compass, yeah?

And the shiny shoulders on this dress make me want another LBD, even though I already own way too many of them.

Etsy Grab-Bag: Four-Fingered Salute

A little homage to our boy, eh? A lovely silver bracelet...

An in-joke acronym t-shirt...

And some bike gloves cut for a Vulcan.

Forever 21: Sherlockiana

Sometimes, when it's cold out, you just gotta wear a cape.
Plus maybe some oxfords.

Karmaloop: Rojas

This post is just an excuse to say LOOK AT THOSE SHOES. Hot damn. It's like fourteen-year-old me is having a timegasm.
This dress is pretty cool too, though.

Modcloth: Blakely Again

Today I'm feeling the Eureka love again. Channel a little Ms. Blake with me--I'm thinking of this darling coat. She has her playful side, to be sure.

Or perhaps a nice sweater dress, for when she's off-duty.

Or this for when she's really, really off-duty, and looking good.

Today I'm liking the metalwork from Macha. Snake bone ring and Karis ring.

Design Detours: Holiday Reds

Today I'm feeling some fondness for the upcoming holidays. I'm not a big fan of religion in general, but Christmas is only tangentially related to religion at this point, right? That was always my mom's justification for celebrating it in a combined pagan-atheist household, at any rate. But if I were going to do Christmas, I'd do it like Gorey. Up top, beautifully patterned glasses.

Some nice baroque-feeling trays.

And finally, some great creepy bird ornaments.
